A Yemeni woman and a bread basket

Yemeni women usually sell the different kinds of bread they make on “restaurant alley” near Souq al-Milh, the spice souq in the Old City, Sanaa, Yemen.

Between noon and one o’clock every day, especially on weekends, the alley bustles with men who are in a hurry to eat their piping hot salta or fahsa dishes to get their bodies warmed up and ready for the long afternoon qat chew.
