A cottage on the beach in Juara Village, in Malaysia’s Tioman Island. The beach is visited by sea turtles, where they lay their eggs. The photo below is of a hatchery in the Juara Turtle Project on the same beach, operated by a group of volunteers. The eggs are dug up after they’re laid and given safe shelter to hatch, then the hatchlings are released to make their way to the sea.

Visit the Juara Turtle Project (http://www.juaraturtleproject.com) website for great photos of the project, including the permanent resident, Jo (http://www.juaraturtleproject.com/?p=pics_8aug2010), a blind sea turtle rescued when he couldn’t find his way to the water.
